A Message from our Minister, Revd Kate Cambridge

Welcome to the Wesley Methodist Church website. We hope that you find it useful and that it gives you a glimpse into who we are and what we are about.  We seek to be a welcoming and inclusive church and, whether you are a committed Christian or seeking to find out more, would love to have you come and join us.  We believe that, through Jesus Christ, God the Father calls us into relationship with Himself and we depend on the Holy Spirit to guide us in our Christian discipleship.  This means that we are all accepted by God, not on our own goodness, but through His grace to us.  It also means that all are welcome as we journey together with Him.

As I write this I am anticipating maternity leave in four weeks time.  Geoffrey and I have one son, Benjamin, and look forward to the birth of his little sister in February 2010.  This means that if you visit us after that time you may well find me incognito as a worshipping member of the congregation, children in tow!

One important feature of Methodism is our emphasis on the ministry of the whole people of God.  This means that all does not revolve around the ordained minister, but we seek to recognise and value the gifts of all.  You will see this when you read of the many varied activities that we are engaged in as a church.  We greatly value the ministry of local preachers in the Winchester Methodist Circuit and our interconnectedness with the other Methodist churches in this ‘circuit’.  Thankfully and rightly, this means that all does not fall apart when the ordained minister goes on an extended period of leave!

Please do enjoy browsing our website, but remember that it cannot give you a true picture of our worshipping community here. We hope that it gives enough of a flavour for you to decide to come and visit us and experience the traditional ‘Wesley welcome’ for yourself!
